Trump Administration to place new sanctions on Russia for backing Assad

(Iraq Now News)-

The Trump Administration is set to place new sanctions on Russia for backing the Assad regime in chemical attacks against civilians, US envoy to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Sunday.

Haley added in televised remarks that imminent sanctions would target Russian firms taht supplied the Assad regime with chemical weapons.

On April 13, the US launched more than 100 missiles positions of the Assad regime and allied Iranian militias in response to the Assad chemical attack on Douma, the last rebel-held enclave in eastern Ghouta.

The UK and France participated in the US strike that President Donald Trump described as "perfect".
