9 Iraqi forces killed, 3 kidnapped by ISIS in Anbar

(Iraq News)- ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - At least nine Iraqi security members were killed and three others kidnapped on Sunday by ISIS militants in an attack on Rutba town in Anbar province, said an official.An official from the Anbar province told Rudaw that in an ambush in the Saqar area of eastern Rutba town, militants attacked a convoy of three vehicles of Iraqi border guards, killing nine and abducting three.He added that ISIS seized the opportunity of today’s bad weather to launch the assault.Sofian Isawi, another official from Anbar province, told Rudaw the situation has been brought under control.Isawi added that the attacking militants have not been able to take control of any area.Coalition warplanes also took part in fending off the attack, he said.Earlier on Sunday, a suspected ISIS sleeper cell launched a surprise suicide attack on Iraqi Federal Police south of Mosul.
