Army repulses Nusra Front attack on military checkpoints in Manshiyah, Daraa

Daraa ( Syrian Ministry of Defense announced, on Tuesday, that the army forces repulsed an attack by al-Nusra Front on military checkpoints in Hayy al-Manshiyah.

The ministry released a statement saying that Syrian Army forces managed to foil an attack launched by al-Nusra Front on army checkpoints in Hayy al-Manshiyah, west of Daraa.

The security forces also killed dozens of terrorists, and destroyed three armed vehicles in the neighborhoods of Karak, Arbaeen, al-Saad road, al-Abbasiyah, Haret al-Badw, Haret al-Bajaja and Haret al-Hamadeen, the statement added.

According to Wikipedia, Nusra Front (also known as Jabhat Fataḥ al-Šām or al-Qaeda in Syria) is a Salafist jihadist terrorist organization fighting against Syrian government forces in the Syrian Civil War, with the aim of establishing an Islamic state in the country.

The group was formed in 23 January 2012.
