Iraq, EU complete goals of Kuwait's int'l reconstruction conf.

(Iraq Now News)- (MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, July 13 (KUNA) -- Iraq and the European Union announced Saturday their completion of the goals that were set at the Kuwait‘s International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq.This came in a statement by Iraq‘s Foreign Ministry on the sidelines of a meeting between Minister Mohammad Al-Hakeem and visiting EU Foreign Policy Chief and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini.Both sides worked together to achieve the goals that were put up during the conference held in Kuwait in February of 2018 in order to provide a better future for Iraq.The EU has given Iraq EUR 1.2 billion in humanitarian, stability, developmental aid and security cooperation since 2014, which proves the long-term commitment of a strategic cooperation with Iraq.Al-Hakeem confirmed that both sides are committed to a firm relation and through cooperation in the past years to fight the so-called Islamic State (Daesh).Both sides assured committing to peace and stability in the Middle East, a united vision for the region, and to support programs and initiatives to drive for negotiations instead of conflicts.He added that cooperation is the key to long-term security, stability, and development, and that the EU is still devoted to strengthen these with the Iraqi government.Mogherini arrived in Iraq today on an official visit to meet Iraqi officials to discuss cooperation cases.
