This is part of a project in which six schools are being repaired to allow children to return to a safe and comfortable learning environment, ReliefWeb reported Thursday. IR has been distributing school bags, providing counseling services for students, and capacity building services for teachers.In Baghdad, Naser spoke with women who took part in a session on sexual and gender based violence (SGBV).
This project is funded by the Canadian government and is helping to raise awareness and understanding of SGBV and how it can be addressed. IR is helping local communities rebuild and recover by encouraging a community spirit, mutual reliance and creating sustainability.Over the last two weeks IR Iraq has delivered counseling support and awareness sessions in the Altakya camp in Baghdad. Cash assistance has been provided to approximately 200 students from refugee families in this city and 145 medicine packages have been delivered to patients under a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees program.Education projects funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) are being implemented by our office in the Anbar and Salahuddin provinces. A total of 3,300 students will receive school uniforms, school bags and stationary items.
Along with this the office has also been working on a SGBV project funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
This has reached 750 women and girls so far.In Mosul, IR has distributed 4,500 food baskets in conjunction with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
