ISIS besieges Iraqi federal police command center south of Mosul

(Iraq News)- MOSUL, Iraq — ISIS fighters have launched a major attack against the Iraqi Federal Police command center south of Mosul in Hamam al-Alil on Sunday morning.

Senior Iraqi commanders are present in the command center, Rudaw’s correspondent Farhad Dolamari who is with the Iraqi forces inside the besieged building reported.The attack was described as unexpected and began at 9 a.m.

Dolamari said that ISIS militants and at least two suicide bombers blew themselves up, as they were trying to force their way into the building, one of them within 30 meters of the Rudaw team.

Rudaw’s team is safe, but besieged.

Iraqi helicopters are attacking ISIS militants in the area. The attack was launched by what seems to be ISIS sleeper cells, after the area was liberated last November by the Iraqi Federal Police.
